                                        TOPIC 6 :  TAKING LECTURE NOTES

        Hye guys! We meet again after Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday for a week. Today i will share with all of you about how to take lecture notes.I know that all this while it's must be a big things for students to struggle which one of the notes that we have to jot down on our notes especially the main points of the topics.So for that I will share it in my blog about how to take lecture notes,the effective of note taking,why we must takes lecture notes,how to become active listener and so on.Besides that we also doing some activities during the classes.This topic is represented by Sir/Profesor Kamil that is Right Lecturer of Business Management at UITM Kampus Raub Pahang.
                              

                                                 WHY TAKES LECTURE NOTES???

• Active listening
• Accurate record of information
• To interpret,condense and organize information
• For repetition of material

                                    HOW TO TAKE LECTURE NOTES???

1.       We must to read the texts before classes:

By reading texts we can:

• Build up the background about the topic.
• Have idea what the lecture is about.
• Identify main ideas of the lecture and organize notes easier.
• Be familiar with the key terms related to the topic.

    2.      We have to be ready to take notes as walk into the classroom.

    3.      We must sitting in front of the classroom will allow and hear better.

    4.      Probability find other interested motivated friends sit in the first rew rows of the class.

    5.      We must review the notes took during the last  class while  waiting for the class begin.
                               
                                            

                                           
                                         HOW TO BECOME ACTIVE LISTENER???

• Read before the lecture
• Listen with an open mind
• Review bst set of notes
• Sit in the lecturer's line of vision
• Control emotional responses
• Sit in the lecturer's line of vision
• Decide what to listen
• Focus attention physically and mentally
• Ask and answer questions
• Listen to the main points and related details and take notes.
• Monitor listening by checking with lecturer and classmate if unsure of some information.

                                               WHAT TO INCLUDE IN NOTES???

• Headings    : Note main points during lecture 
• Details       :Facts and explanations
• Listen for all details : Definitions word for word and  Repeats them several time  -------

          Enumerations and lists of things
          Examples related to general headings
          Anything that is repeated and spelled out.
          Written on the whiteboard and on the power point slide.

• Mathematics and Science classes.

          Taking notes in mathematics and science classes requires strategies.
          Write the problem on the left side and anything the lecture says about directly across for  each steps.
          Listen carefully for the main points

• Power Point Presentations

         Heading and subheadings in power point to organize notes.
         Copy the headings and subheadings into notes.
         Listen to what lecturer says about slide and take notes.

                                                     REVIEWING YOUR NOTES

• Recite from the headings

          Review notes using headings to prompt memory
          After reciting the notes aloud,cover the information under each heading and recall all of  the points.
          Check notes to see whether you missed anything.
                                                  
                                                         RECITE FROM RECALL

• Information in notes,use recall questions to test your memory of the main points and supporting details.
• Helps learn the material in an isolated way.
• Learn specific answers to specific questions.
• Talk about the information with others.
• Putting information in own words and explaining to others to move into long term memory.
• Get together with friends to review your notes.
• Take turns discussing information,predicting additional test questions and quizzing.
